Vanessa founded Tone with a powerful vision: to create an ethical, design-led studio where passionate creatives could make a difference in the world. With care and purpose, she leads a diverse team of stellar design professionals united by shared values and a commitment to excellence.

Vanessa is a life-long “book nerd” with a deep love of storytelling. Following her childhood dream she became a book designer, before expanding her skills into branding and film poster and campaign design.

While she loved this exciting, challenging work, she felt a pressing need to channel her talents into helping others. In 2015, she took a bold leap of faith and set out to build a truly unique business. Today, the thriving Tone Studio is everything she envisioned:

“Tone is a place where designers can put our skills to work in the right places, for the right causes, while inspiring each other to continually learn and grow. The strength of having a team where everyone has diverse skills is that you can create something unique every time – something so human, with so much emotion embedded in it, that it’s always going to cut through.

We strive to make a meaningful difference through creativity, kindness, compassion, and genuine caring for one another. And while we know the cure may never be found, or resistance to change may be great, we will never stop using our courage and curiosity to fuel our design, start conversations, fund research, and enable breakthroughs.”

I wanted to work at a place where I could wake up every day and use my skills for good. Ten years ago, a place like Tone didn’t exist, so I had to create it. It’s an incredible feeling working on projects that reflect my passion for social causes, but are also creatively satisfying.
