Through decades of international experience in broadcast media, Lucia has gained unparalleled digital experience and technical skills. Her creativity and expertise, combined with her deep desire to help others through her work, made her the perfect person to establish, lead, and grow Tone’s thriving digital arm.

Lucia began her career in the pre-Mac era, creating high-end design products for television networks at a point where graphic design was just becoming a major focus.

“It was such an interesting time. When I was studying design, I worked with some very refined artists, who worked specifically on typography, illustration, or tech drawing. It was very manual work – even life drawing was involved. But when I started work I was in digital from the start.

Through different roles, I’ve worked with 2-D and 3-D animation, motion, graphics and apps, as well as After Effects, editing and post-production. It’s a very technical world, and I seem to have gravitated towards more technicality over time. I love the design work too, but I just devour anything new in all the different programs and applications we use.”

As one of the first people to join Tone’s team, Lucia has played an important part in shaping our culture of open, supportive collaboration.

“I love to share knowledge, whether that’s helping others or learning from them. I’ve worked in places with a very competitive atmosphere, but we just don’t have that at Tone. I really like the way we share work and ideas.”

“I’ve always volunteered my time outside of work. I’m particularly interested in education and helping young people who are disconnected or have mental health issues. That’s my real passion. But until I discovered Tone, I had no idea that a design job could fulfil the strong need I feel to help others and make a difference.”
