When Ella graduated from her Visual Communications degree, she made a deliberate choice not to enter the corporate world. Ella wanted to use her design skills to do good. And joining Tone gave her that opportunity.

Ella came to Tone from a design role in environmental sustainability. She says working at Tone gives her an excuse to “stay curious”. From healthcare to human rights, her role exposes her to a wide range of causes and topics that matter.

Ella’s favourite part of the design process lies in “challenging ideas” and “creating ah-ha moments”. She’s a firm believer that testing new approaches often helps clients move into a better place. She loves to nudge the team to try something different.

Ella’s passion for beautiful design and sustainability doesn’t stop when she shuts down her computer. On weekends, she moonlights as furniture restorer, rescuing mid-century pieces from landfill. It’s a running joke amongst her friends that she always has a new piece of reclaimed furniture – all in the name of caring for the planet.

“Design has the power to shape how people see things, feel things, and experience things. My university degree taught me that – and it's what led me to Tone.”

“Working for Tone means I do something meaningful every day. It’s life-changing work. We are a group of creatives who care about people, which isn’t always easy to come by... A lot of designers don’t get the opportunity to use their skills for good and we’re lucky that we get to do that.”

I love feeling like I become part of a client’s team. Like if it’s a health research campaign... I get to be part of the team delivering healthcare... even though I’m sitting behind a computer. I love all the causes that Tone works across. I just want to do good.”
